Not only is avocado oil great to incorporate into your diet, but it is also full of numerous benefits for the hair thanks to its richness in antioxidant vitamin E and essential fatty acids. It stimulates hair growth, gives your hair flexibility, and shine. We advise you to use 100% pure, organic, and cold-pressed avocado oil.

Why is avocado oil good for the hair?

1. It penetrates the hair follicles

Avocado oil contains monounsaturated fats, which penetrate the hair more deeply than other polyunsaturated fats. It has a much lighter texture than other plant oils, and so doesn’t weigh down the hair. Thanks to its lightness, avocado oil easily absorbs into the scalp, avoiding blocking your pores and over-oiling your scalp.

2. It nourishes

Avocado oil hydrates and nourishes deeply, rather than just coating your hair. It also absorbs into the skin quickly, thoroughly nourishing your scalp, preventing dandruff and itching. It’s perfect if your scalp is particularly dry, sensitive, or if you suffer from psoriasis.

3. Repairs sun-damaged hair

When your hair is overexposed to the sun, UVA and UVB rays can damage your hair follicles and dehydrate them, which can discolour your hair, cause split ends to form, and cause your hair to thin. Avocado oil contains vitamin E, which can repair the damage caused by sun exposure. The antioxidants that the oil contains reduce oxidative stress and free radicals which can cause your hair follicles to decompose, making your damaged hair stronger from the roots to the tips.

4. Stimulates hair growth

Avocado oil contains vitamin D, which stimulates the growth of new hair follicles. This helps you to maintain beautiful, thick hair. Its essential fatty acids strengthen the hair’s roots, and stimulating hair growth. Use this magical oil on the scalp and hair to give your hair growth a boost.

How to use it

1. Directly on the scalp

If you have dandruff, you can massage a few drops of avocado oil into your scalp before washing your hair. This will hydrate your scalp as well as your hair, and they will become silky and shiny. And as a little bonus, massaging your scalp boosts circulation and accelerates hair growth.

2. To boost the effectiveness of your products

If you’re concerned about having greasy hair and you don’t want to spend time letting the oil soak into your hair, you can integrate all of the benefits of avocado oil into your everyday beauty routine. To give a boost to your hair care products, add a few drops of avocado oil to your products before using them.

3. On tangled hair

Avocado oil is a great tool to help loosen tangled hair, it has great revitalising powers. Apply a few drops of avocado oil to the tips of your fingers, warm it up a little and apply it to the ends of your hair before brushing to remove any tangles. If your hair is very tangled, use a fine-toothed comb on the oiled ends of your hair to get any smaller knots out.

You can also apply avocado oil to the tips of your hair if they are damaged and weak. Covering the hair with a thin layer of oil will strengthen the tips while making them more flexible.

4. Blended with essential oils

Thanks to its light texture, avocado oil is a perfect base to dilute essential oils. You can choose your essential oil depending on the needs of your scalp and hair: lavender to stimulate growth, lemon for dandruff, and ylang-yang to stimulate sebum production if you have a dry scalp. Add a few drops of the essential oil of your choice to 2 tablespoons of avocado oil, apply it to the scalp and leave it to act for about 10 minutes before you wash your hair.

And if you’d like to avoid all of the additives and artificial preservatives that you’d find in shop-bought avocado oil, you can make your own! Here’s how.

Nature is filled with numerous plant oils that can do miracles for your skin and hair. Avocado oil is a must-have beauty secret if you want to have silky hair and bouncy skin.
